Day 10

(post by Mike Kravitz)
Let’s talk about Peppermint! 🌿

Peppermint is a cross between the water mint and spearmint. Originally native to Europe, the United States is the world’s largest producer of Peppermint essential oil. Young Living has the Labbeemint Partner Distillery in White Swan, Washington, USA. This farm has been family run since the 1940’s and keeps all of the Seed to Seal commitment’s.

Peppermint essential oil uses the leaves and stems to steam distill and extract the oil. Peppermint definitely has a minty and stimulating aroma that your neighbors will definitely know you’ve used!

As Pliny the Elder (23-79AD), the Roman natural philosopher and scientist stated, “The smell of mint stirs up the mind and appetite to a greedy desire of food”.

Peppermint is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion. Peppermint has also been studied for its effects on the liver and respiratory system, triggering a sensation of fullness after meals, and head tension as just a few areas of study.

Peppermint is great for so many fears that we all have to deal with regularly:

▪️ 𝔽𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕠𝕗 Failure. By rubbing peppermint on your Thymus (under your clavicle / collar bone) and using the statement “I Accept Growth!” we can start to see the unfoldment of our true potential. We all feel the fear and we can choose to push through because are capable. When we do fail we can have the attitude of learning through the journey and not accepting failure as an indication of our self worth. When we personalize this fear, it makes it almost impossible to do these challenging (fearful) tasks!

▪️𝔽𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕠𝕗 Dependence. When we put peppermint on your Thalamus (on the sides of your nasal bone) and using the statement “I Am Self Sufficient!” we can start to see there is freedom in choosing to rely on yourself. This fear also shows itself when the “what if” statements start appearing. Like what if my car breaks down and I can’t make it to work, or what if the storm knocks out my power… The endless worrying about things that could possibly happen.

▪️𝔽𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕠𝕗 Restriction. Placing peppermint on your Medulla (between pineal and spinal cord) and using the statement “I Am Open to New Experiences!” we can choose mobility over feeling constricted. Fear of restriction tells your body that restriction and deprivation are around the corner. One example is I over ate this week so I can’t follow my diet anymore! This on a subconscious level influences how you behave around food.

▪️𝔽𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕠𝕗 Rigidity. Placing peppermint on your Medulla (Iliac Spine) and using the statement “It’s a Cosmic Game!” we can choose amusement over getting locked into a certain viewpoint or the inability to show empathy to another person. When we enter a state of humor, even in our worst moments, we can emotionally recover faster than most people would think possible.

The great thing about Peppermint is that it also comes as a Vitality oil. A Vitality oil are oils you can take internally and they have been registered as a dietary supplement that do more than just give your food or drinks great flavor! The oil is exactly the same it just has to be labeled that way to meet the FDA’s labeling rules for dietary products. Of course it is up to each person on their comfort level, but I’ve been ingesting various Young Living essential oils for 4 years now. Even more importantly, vitality oils also support a number of different internal body systems!

When people ingested peppermint essential oil the “authors showed … an increase in grip force (36.1%)… lung function including increase in forced vital capacity in the first second (FVC1) (35.1%), peak inspiratory flow rate (PIF) (66.4%) and peak expiratory flow rate (PEF) (65.1%) which are important parameters of respiratory function.” You can find this in Dr. Oli Wenker’s book, A Doctor’s Guide to Essential Rewards, which I would highly recommend to everyone, it’s excellent!

I hope you enjoyed learning more about Peppermint!
I use this oil everyday primarily as a vitality oil.
